Long-Haul Travel EssentialsWith the fantastic travel specials available, there's never been a better time to jump on a plane and start checking off items on your travel bucket list! Here in New Zealand, we often have quite a distance to travel in order to see the rest of the world, so here are a few quick tips to make your next long-haul flight a little easier. 1. If you can't live without it, put it in your carry on bag. This includes medication, toiletries, phone chargers, snacks, and a change of clothes (or at least underwear). If you're going to be on a 12 + hour flight, it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it (within reason, of course!) 2. Earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones are sanity savers! You never know when you're going to be on a noisy flight, and a set of earplugs or headphones can help you get some much needed sleep. 3. Load up your entertainment ahead of time. If you're bringing along a phone/tablet/laptop/Kindle fill it up with movies/games/books/music a day or two before you travel. In flight wi-fi is becoming increasingly common, but it's not a given - and it's much easier to delete than download. This is doubly important if you're travelling with children. 4. Keep hydrated! Cabin humidity is kept very low on aircraft and this will suck moisture out of you. Pick up a bottle of water before you board or bring an empty one from home to fill up. 5. Little things can have a big impact on your comfort. If you normally wear contact lenses, bring along your glasses (in your carry on!) so you can swap if your contacts become uncomfortable.
